Our partnership grew out of members’ shared interest in establishing a regional approach to service delivery; simplifying and facilitating client access to mental health, substance abuse, and social services across all levels of care; and achieving efficiencies through sharing of expertise and resources.

Executive Directors of seven agencies began meeting informally in 2007 and subsequently encouraged formation of interagency staff committees to promote information sharing among staff with similar responsibilities. These agencies included: ClearView Center in Albany County, Equinox in Albany County, the Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties, Mohawk Opportunities in Schenectady County, Transitional Services Association in Saratoga County, Unity House in Rensselaer County, and Warren Washington Association for Mental Health in Warren and Washington Counties.

In 2010, we received funding from New York State Health Foundation which enabled us to examine opportunities for collaboration and advance our partnership. This two year planning process resulted in members formalizing their collaboration. Hudson River United Services was incorporated as a management services organization in 2011. We are currently seeking IRS nonprofit status for the organization.

In 2011, Hudson River United Services received a “Passion Project” award from Shannon Rose / Design in Saratoga Springs, NY. This award provided us with early public relations support, including development of this website.
